Multichannel XRay spectrometer

Introducing the multichannel version of the SDD spectrometer. This electronics setup has been developed to assess the performance of a custom multicahnnel silicon drift detector (SDD).

The designed electronics effectively drives an 8-channel silicon X-ray detector and utilizes a series of microcontrollers to process the output signals. An additional microcontroller oversees the operation of all the readout MCUs and establishes a data bridge between them and the PC.

To power the system, a single USB line is used. This is made possible through a comprehensive set of DC-DC converters and ultra-low noise LDO regulators. Additionally, an extra power line delivers a high biasing voltage of -150V with heavy filtering.

The targeted operational condition of the system also required to ensure functionality in a vaccum enviroment where conventional thermal regulation through air is not possible; metal substrate was specifically designed to help dissipating heat and avoid overheating of the electronics.
