This is supposed to be the ultimate itteraction of the drumset im working on. The main reason for the new version is mostly the availability of the IC’s on the market. Using the experience from previous model, I am trying to make it faster, better, stronger.
Using a newer components allows:
-tremendously increase the working speed of main blocks (e.g. external ram speed risen from 42 to 180 Mbps).
-reduce complexity of the system (by using dedicated communication protocols such as SAI, QSPI and SDIO) consequently simplifing also software development.
-optimize power consumption
The general functionality is rather identical to the previous version of the electronics so at the moment I will skipp the details.
This work is still in the initial state and it will take some time to make it fully operational.
For instance, after the first assembly I descovered the wiring mistake in the SD card socked so I had to implement hw patch in order to use intended communication protocol.
As soon as i finish testing the rest of the functional blocks, I plan to order new PCB and rebuild the board with 100% of functionality.
